One of the many lasting legacies the late Eugenio Lopez has left behind is his unending commitment to nurture and develop the skills of the workforce behind the Lopez Group of Companies. It had been his lifelong commitment to help them realize their full potential as individuals. And it is this same fervent desire that inspired the opening of the Eugenio Lopez Center (ELC) in scenic Antipolo City on July 20, 1997.

The ELC opens its doors to the business community to offer a fitting venue for seminars, corporate parties and meetings set in a relaxing and stress-free environment. The 38-room business center is a most welcome getaway from the confines of the office and busy metropolis, providing a more productive and conducive setting.

Rules of business and pleasure are redefined at the ELC. Take your discussions to the well-equipped lecture or conference rooms, screen presentations at the private theater, or conduct teambuilding activities outdoors. Then end the day by availing of the center's sports facilities, swimming in the pool with a panoramic city view, spending quiet time at the chapel, satisfying your gastronomic craving at the restaurant, or simply retreating to your cozy room for a relaxing massage. Whatever you fancy will certainly ease your mind and body.

Nestled in the lush greens surrounding the ELC are flora not usually found elsewhere in the country. The Malalukban, or Champereia manillana, is common in secondary jungles at low altitudes. This can be found in Taiwan, West Malesia and the Philippines.

The Alasi-is, or Aphananthe philippinensis, is found in certain areas of Australia, the Solomons and New Guinea and the Philippines (northern and central Luzon) in the Malesian Region. This thrives in primary and secondary forests, withstanding rather strong seasonal climates.

The ELC is also home to the serpent eagle (usually found in forest clearings, open woodlands, and sometimes in cultivated lands with scattered trees) and the grey wagtail (a slender bird with the characteristic long, constantly wagging tail).

LOCATION

The Eugenio Lopez Center is situated along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City, covering an area of 5,250 square meters atop a 10-hectare property. At 850 feet above sea level, it offers a panoramic view of the metropolis as well as nature's unparalleled beauty. It only takes roughly 30 minutes to get from Ortigas Avenue to the ELC.

a. Lecture room

The Lecture room can accommodate up to 150 people. It can be divided into three sections that fit 50 people each. Sound proofed operable walls divide the rooms. For small groups of six to 20 people, meeting rooms or breakout rooms can be availed of.

b. Mini Theater

The theater houses 67 tiered seats, each accompanied with a flip-type writing desk. It has its own control room and audio/video equipment.

c. Library/Reading, Discussion and Computer Room

The room keeps a comprehensive range of audio/video    equipment, including built-in whiteboards, flipcharts and LCD multimedia projectors.   For small groups with maximum of 20 persons.

TEAMBUILDING

Experiential Learning Camp provides training services and skills development in the areas of communication, trust and respect, team building and self-awareness. It addresses both individual and organized needs by using experiential, adventure-based education and challenges. As participants progress through our adventure-based curriculum and course elements, they will undergo challenging situations that will help participants discover new aspects about their personal and professional selves. These activities can unleash new potentials for success and help bring out a better team player in each one. The end result is fostering cooperation, understanding and unity.

The Center has 38 rooms available: three (3) suite, twenty four (24) twin sharing and eleven (11) triple sharing rooms. Each has bathroom amenities complete with hot water, and room make up service to complete that business getaway experience.

Feast on Continental and Filipino favorites at the main dining hall as our well-trained F&B staff ensure your dining pleasure. We offer a choice of seminar or executive buffet packages, and plated or set menus. A la cart, special menus and exclusive meals for individuals with specific dietary requirements can also be served upon prior notice.Guests can enjoy a drink or two from our bar which serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. We are an Educational Foundation that specializes in providing training solutions within a total learning ambiance. A vision was turned into reality when MMLDC was created and inaugurated in 1999. True to its original concept, the MMLDC is now the knowledge center that has been instrumental for Meralco to attain its corporate vision of becoming a world class company and service provider of choice. It is Meralco’s contribution to professionalize the electric utility industry and revolutionize the training & development services of the country. 

From year 2000, various facilities were added to expand the capacity of the Center. This includes: a Food Hall to accommodate 325 diners, the Creativity Hall for upgraded dormitory accommodations, the Rainforest, MMLDC’s unique and complete team building facility and the Paintball area. A total of fourteen classrooms, ranging in capacity from 15 for small planning sessions to 200 participants for general assemblies. Various break out rooms and outdoor areas are also available for out-of-the box learning activities. It has also a library, a business center and a multi-purpose hall. Comfortable accommodations for 239 guests are available in either the hotel-like Residence Hall or at the Creativity Hall. The Center also features a pavilion with an adjacent swimming pool, a grotto with an image of the Virgin of Antipolo, an aviary of rare and exotic birds, a chapel, a lounge, a clinic and a gym

Solid Waste Management Orientation: In response to the need to protect and preserve the environment, MMLDC Foundation Inc. also offered solid Waste Management orientations to various institutions and organizations. It had successfully piloted a School-based Solid Waste Management program in Mayamot Elementary School, Antipolo City.

Technical Development

• Linemen’s Training: covers basic, advanced and upgraded courses for linemen of electric cooperatives.
• Hotline Maintenance Overview: was designed to introduce the principles of live line maintenance and the different hotline tools used on live line maintenance work. It was also aimed at making cooperative appreciate the benefits and importance of doing live line maintenance work.

Our Aviary

Our MMLDC Aviary, “The Aviary”, occupies at least 12,540 sq. m. of land area, about 12.71% of the Center’s total land area of 98,662 sq. m.  It is a sanctuary to more than 500 exotic birds and fowls.    The Aviary represents the Center’s steadfast commitment in helping the environment, by taking care of these wonderful creatures.

Aviary Tours and Bird Shows

The Lakbay Kalikasan Program seeks to educate about the need to care for the environment and to promote the appreciation and love of nature. Knowledgeable and friendly Aviary personnel provide relevant information such as species, common and scientific names, origin, distribution and habitat of these fascinating birds.

Each Aviary tour ends with an exciting bird show where a Triton Cockatoo, a Mollucan Cockatoo and a Scarlet Macaw perform exciting tricks to the delight of the audience.  For less than 30 minutes, visitors will enjoy the site of these creatures doing tricks such as flag-raising, matching blocks with their proper shapes, playing with rings, shooting basketballs, riding scooters, climbing ladders, dropping coins in piggy banks, bowling and throwing trash on waste baskets.  After the show, guests are given the chance to hold and pose with these birds for souvenir pictures.

HOW TO GET TO MMLDC

From MERALCO Ortigas, go straight through Ortigas Avenue passing through the Rosario, cross the Cainta Junction, pass the Tikling and up the Ortigas Ave. Extension passing the following landmarks: Beverly Hills Subdivision, Hamaka, Ynares Center, Ninoy Aquino Monument.  Turn left to J.P. Rizal before Petron Gasoline Station.  Travel until you reach the white gates of MMLDC.

Estimated travel time: 45 minutes

Or take Marcos hi-way from either Katipunan or Cubao to travel East.  You will pass the Sta. Lucia Mall on your right.  Continue traversing Marcos Hiway until you reach its main intersection with Sumulong Hiway.  This intersection is marked with Masinag Public Market to the left.  Turn right at the traffic light and start ascending Sumulong Hiway.  Among the landmarks you will pass are: a. Meralco branch office on the right, Grilla restaurant on the left, Padi’s Point to the right.  From Padi’s Point, travel another 4km.  until you reach the white gates of MMLDC.

How to get there:

Driving Directions

To get to the resort, you can go to Antipolo either thru Ortigas or Sumulong highway. Once you get to Antipolo proper, the easiest landmark to find is the YNARES Sports Center. From there, proceed to Unciano Hospital. Turn into the road right between the hospital and gasoline station. Follow the road on the map below. Cattleya Resort will be on your right. There is a big billboard with happy children just at the entrance.
